SnapBlur Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
SnapBlur is a browser extension for taking full-page screenshots, blurring sensitive information, annotating, and sharing images. This policy explains what data the extension collects, and what it does not collect.
1. What the extension collects
Nothing is collected automatically. SnapBlur has no analytics, no tracking, and no telemetry. The extension never sends your browsing history, page content, or personal information to any server without your explicit action.
2. Captured screenshots
- When you capture a screenshot, the image is processed locally on your device. It is stored temporarily in the browser's session storage so the editor can open it, and it is deleted shortly after.
- The image never leaves your computer unless you click the Share button. Sharing is an explicit, manual action.
3. Sharing (manual, opt-in)
- When you click Share, the edited image is uploaded to a Cloudflare-hosted endpoint (snapblur.workers.dev) and a public link is created.
- Free share links are automatically deleted after 30 days. Pro share links never expire.
- Anyone with the link can view the image. Do not share images containing sensitive personal data of third parties without permission.
4. Pro license
- If you purchase SnapBlur Pro, your license key is processed by Lemon Squeezy (our payment and license provider) to activate and validate the license on your device.
- The extension stores only your license key and a device instance ID locally in your browser's storage to remember that you are activated. You can deactivate at any time from the extension popup.
5. Permissions — why they exist
- debugger: required to capture full-page screenshots beyond the visible viewport (the Chrome DevTools Protocol is used purely for capture on the tab you choose to capture).
- activeTab / scripting / tabs: used to identify and interact with the active tab you decide to capture.
- storage: stores your settings and license status locally.
- downloads / clipboardWrite: lets you save or copy the resulting image.
- notifications / offscreen: shows capture status and copies images to the clipboard.
6. Third-party services
- Cloudflare Workers/R2: hosts share links you explicitly create.
- Lemon Squeezy: processes payments and validates Pro licenses.
